Music funding at Migros Eastern Switzerland

Band on a stage playing to an audience

The Migros Culture Percentage gives a broad cross-section of the population access to music performances. It promotes active music-making across Eastern Switzerland.

The diversity of music-making

Music for all – that is the main aim of Migros Eastern Switzerland’s Culture Percentage. We want our involvement to unlock access to music for as wide-ranging an audience as possible. The Migros Culture Percentage also supports active music-making across the whole region and encourages children and young people in particular to take up music.

Music projects

The Migros Eastern Switzerland’s Culture Percentage is involved in music e.g. through the following projects:

Rock/pop

bandXost contest: The bandXost contest gives young bands with an average age of up to 24 the chance to give an audience a taste of their playing under professional conditions. bandXost has already spawned a few familiar names.

STARTRAMPE: With its STARTRAMPE project, Migros Culture Percentage has been supporting up-and-coming bands in Eastern Switzerland since 2013. The project’s focus is on offering and maintaining performance opportunities for regional musicians That is why it supports festivals and venues in Eastern Switzerland which promote local bands. It also gives these festivals an incentive to include more bands from the region in the programme.

Folk music

From traditional yodelling to earthy folk songs, to diverse styles of instrumental music – Swiss folk music is multi-faceted. We support regional and national music festivals and also provide funding for concerts of folk music upon request.

Classical music

Musikkollegium Winterthur: Its family concerts are supported by the Migros Culture Percentage. Children get to know classical music in an entertaining, playful way. The summer family concert in the attractive setting of Rychenberg Park is a treat for all the family.
