Madame Frigo: A sustainable recipe for success
One third of the food produced in Switzerland – about 2.2 million tonnes – ends up in the garbage bin every year. Almost half of that comes from private households. This is where the pioneer project Madame Frigo comes in: Through communal refrigerators accessible to the public, local residents can make any unused edible food available to others free of charge.
Engaging with ecology throughout Switzerland
This offering, which can easily be integrated into daily life, gives private households the opportunity to make a positive contribution to reducing food waste. The project has been launched successfully in Bern and, with the support of the Migros Pioneer fund, is being expanded to locations throughout Switzerland.
